Candle Care
Ouro candles are made with 100% coconut wax which is a slow burning wax so you should be able to enjoy a 12 oz candle for up to 70+ hours.
You can preserve the life of your candle by doing the following...
- On first burn, light your candle for 3-4 hours so that the wax melts all the way to the edges. This will assure your candle burns evenly going forward and prevent tunneling.
- Trim your wick before each and EVERY burn. This will prevent soot from getting on the sides of the candle jar and give you a much cleaner longer burn.
- Remove any debris before lighting.
- Always light your candle and keep away from drafts, vents, fans, or air currents. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning, smoking, or sooting.
- Allow the candle to fully solidify before relighting.
- Always burn on a flat, stable, fireproof surface. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Do not burn the candle when less than 1/4" of wax remains in the glass.
Sometimes a little soot is unpreventable due to drafts (a/c, people walking by, open windows, etc.) If you notice some black residue on the inside of your candle after extinguishing that is ok. Once cooled, just use a damp paper towel or rubbing alcohol and it will wipe right off making your candle look like new!
